I'll just say it,..I hate oak. With that said, it became open season on choosing the new materials for the handrails and railings. (and ultimately the stair treads).
At the end of the long process of deciding on the look of the new railings, wrought iron won out as the material the pickets would be made from.
I've mentioned already how my projects always seem to snowball in scope and complexity and the decision to go with wrought iron absolutely continued that tradition.
In this context building code requirements in Canada have become synonymous with instructions on how to undermine Darwin's natural evolutionary processes. The current rules for "safe" pickets, leave almost no room for a design that would at all hold any aesthetic interest,....ALMOST.
Now it was a simple matter of making approximately 168 of them.
Theoretically this should work...
This railing design was approved by my better half and now it was on me to actually make it.
